Make a pie pastry

3 cups flour

1 ½ cups butter or Crisco

7-8 T. cold water


Roll dough into log and divide into 8 portions. Roll each into a circle about ¼ inch thick. Chill unused portions as you work. Trim rounds into even circles; place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Prick all over with fork. Brush lightly with cool water and sprinkle with sugar (about 4 T. for all). Bake in a 375° oven for about 10 minutes or until golden. Cool on wire racks.

1 ½ cups fresh strawberries, sliced:

2 cups whipping cream

½ cup sugar

2 tsp. vanilla

Whip cream adding sugar and vanilla. Stack with pastry, strawberries, cream, etc. Decorate, if you wish with whole strawberries and fresh flowers. With a very sharp thin-bladed knife, cut into wedge-shaped servings.
