Pre Heat Oven to 375°F
Lightly grease small cookie sheet
2 Cups Sifted Flour
2 TBSP Sugar
2 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Tsp Baking Soda
½ Tsp Salt
3 TBSP Butter, Softened
1 Cup Buttermilk
1 TBSP Butter, Melted
In large bowl sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, & salt.
Cut in softened butter with pastry knife or fork until mixture looks like fine crumbs.
Add buttermilk; mix with fork only until dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured pastry cloth or board.
Knead gently until smooth (About 1 minute)
Shape into ball
Place on prepared cookie sheet & flatten 7 inch circle. Dough will be about 1 ½” thick.
Press a large floured knife into center of loaf, almost until bottom is cut thru. Repeat until loaf is marked into quarters.
Bake for 30-40 Minutes or until top is golden & loaf sounds hollow.
Brush with 1 TBSP Melted Butter
