I need to vent
February 5, 2008 |
So I decided to make some of my chocolate chip cookies tonight, and aparently I’m a little rusty on my technique. Or my memory. I had already added the chocolate chips to the dough when I realized that it didn’t look normal. Then it dawned on me that I forgot to add the eggs. I added the eggs, and put the cookies in the oven. Now they are flat and are burning a lot easier.
Cooking lesson to learn from this: DON’T FORGET TO ADD THE EGGS!!

any idea where i can get some recipes for diabetics that are cheap and easy to follow
Very informative article.Thanks for this.
diabetic recipes ? go to south beat diet or atkins friendly sites. or the company 50/50 makes good stuff.
Thank you for that very informative post.
ooh thats nice i want eat it now
My last experience with baking cookies, I actually whipped the dough with an electric beater and this proved to be a bad idea…I guess having the dough a little course is actually good for baking. The smooth dough actually ruined the consistency of the cookie..long story short, use a fork and good ol’ elbow grease to mix the dough! I feel your pain.
Thanks to Mattresses for the tips i will check them out. There are days (like today) when being part of the virtual community feels great as tips and advice come freely
Very good article Thanks for it. Now Iám hungry
Yeah you don’t want to forget the eggs. I’m not one to speak, though, I’ve made some inedible cookies in my time. And that was from using a recipe.
eggs are the yummiest and simplest food out there
makes everything taste better
This brings up a question I’ve had with baking mistakes–when do you decide you just can’t fix it, and you’ll just be wasting time and gas/electricity during baking–so you just throw it away and start over? Laugh if you will, but wasting ingredients makes me cringe and wasting my time and resources makes me irritable! Any advice on when enough is enough and when to scrap it and start over?
This reminded me of the first time I made pickled asparagus. I really like it and thought I’d same some money and have some fun by making my own.
This was about 20 years ago and I was living in eastern Washington at the time. I went directly to the packing house and bought 2 cases of the highest grade of asparagus. Oh man, was this going to be good. The asparagus were beautiful!
I searched recipes, bought all of my ingredients and proceeded to pickle them. I remember just as I was placing the mason jars in a water bath to seal them when I glanced up and was looking straight at the pickling salt. There it sat, brand new, never opened! I had totally forgotten to add the pickling salt!!
They turned out crunchy & tart…very, very tart.
I was helping my daughter bake cookies last month and, lo and behold, I forgot an essential ingredient as well. The all-too-familiar words “aw daddy” echoed through the house as daddy was reminded of why he doesn’t attempt baking too often!
Yup, we’ve all forgotten to add that magic ingredient at some point! Trouble with my cooking is, egg or no egg, I always burn my cookies!
thats no good! nothing worse than burnt cookies ;(
-Jaimy
Yea — burnt cookies would have been worse!
We all have our forgetful moments : ]
