Cooking Sites and Blogs

March 31, 2007 |

I spend a lot of time reading on the internet. A lot of that time is spent on cooking sites and blogs. There are many great resources. Here are some that I have found helpful.

Cooks Illustrated
Cooks Illustrated is one of the best cooking magazines out there. They do an excellent job of breaking down a dish and explaining why they picked each ingredient and how they do each step. Very detailed explanations of everything. Definitely worth a subscription.

101 Cookbooks
Heidi Swanson runs this site and really has done a good job of doing interesting posts with a ton of different recipes. Her site is also very well put together.

Cooking for Cowards
This is a relatively new blog but the writer Susan does a really good job with her posts. This site is geared towards the beginner but has plenty of info for all levels. One of my favorite posts from her site is essentially what you need to get cooking. Minding Your Pots and Pans

Cooking For Engineeers
It appears as though Michael is good at two things Cooking and Programming. This is one of the best organized blogs I have ever seen on any topic. His programming skills take the typical Wordpress theme to a whole new level. Programming skills aside he does an excellent job explaining his recipes, kitchen tools, etc. Basically if he has cooked anything that you want to cook it is worth going to his site and reading that post. He explains a lot of what he does and how he arrived at his conclusion.

Those are a few of the many useful cooking websites that I have found on the internet. There are many more and I will cover some every few weeks. I try and pick a few that may have flown below the radar and a few that most have heard of as long as they are useful.

Happy Cooking,
David
